It all starts with the Arabian Heavy Crude Oil. The scope of SATORP Jubail Export Refinery Project is to design and built a grass root Refinery that shall process 400.000 BPSD of Arabian Heavy Crude Oil to produce gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, petroleum coke, liquid sulphur and Petrochemical products for export, domestic consumption or further processing. The existing KFIP (King Fahd Industrial Port) will provide the marine facilities for berthing tankers and cargo ships transporting SATORP’s products and feedstock. There will be tank farms in the immediate vicinity to provide storage prior to the loading of the vessels.
SATORP’s Refinery will consist of the following main facilities:
SATORP will treat 100% Arabian Heavy crude with a profound conversion leading, in normal conditions, to no fuel oil production with its Coker. It will be the first refinery in Saudi Arabia and the biggest refinery in the Middle East to produce coke. It is based on a two train principles for all the hydro-skimming units and on single unit for the conversion units.
It will be self sufficient in sulfuric acid for its alkylation unit and will have a totally integrated aromatic complex from the CCR (aromatic oriented) complex to the benzene and Paraxylene extraction unit. SATORP refinery also features not one, but two, crude units.
